Built on a 14-slot modular chassis, this base configuration includes AC power and an Extended Cable Manager (ECM) to simplify cable routing, improve airflow, and streamline maintenance in high-density rack deployments. The system includes three AC power supplies, two Switch Control Boards (SCBs), one Routing Engine (RE), and two fan trays, delivering a reliable foundation for high-performance routing. Powered by Junos OS, the MX960 supports advanced IP/MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs, broadband edge, cloud interconnect, and data center networking. Its modular architecture enables organizations to expand network capacity by adding compatible Modular Port Concentrators (MPCs), Modular Interface Cards (MICs), and additional Routing Engines as business requirements grow.
