Soyou are warned if the temperature in a remote equipmentrack begins to rise and can plan preventative action. Similarly,a warning of rising humidity in an air-conditioned roomcould be a sign of a duct leak, open door, roof leak, etc.The EMD also monitors the status of two external drycontacts which can be connected to a smoke detector, waterdetector, vibration or open-door sensor.The EMD connects to a serial port on any Opengear consoleserver with an adapter and CAT5 cable so authorized userscan securely monitor the environment at remote sites. Theconsole server also provides out-of-band access and out- dialfailover ensures alerts are transmitted.Each EMD device has one temperature and one humiditysensor and provides two general purpose status sensors inone small module. Each console server can support multipleEMDs providing distributed monitoring any site.
